Shifting Water Stewardship
Measurable and lasting change comes with an approach to corporate water stewardship that includes scaling the good we can do when we move beyond just mitigating the water we use, take, or lose.
BWS works with companies to meet traditional volume-based targets, and we advise on strategies to make those targets bolder and more just. Our commitment to more inclusive and intentional models of water stewardship inform who we partner with, how and where we implement our time, expertise, and investments, and how we define and track impact.
We work with businesses large and small to:
Guide strategy
Evaluate priority
basins or watersheds
Vet, source, and
curate a portfolio of
activities
Build intentional
partnerships with
project implementers
Manage funding
and reporting
Catalyze collective
action
Project Categories
We prioritize projects that deliver ecological, social, and economic resilience related to watershed health, water supply, water security, and water access. We strive to support community-led and community-developed projects with groups that have historically been racially or socially marginalized. Project categories include:
Aquatic habitat restoration and biodiversity conservation
Agricultural practices
Water demand reduction
Green and gray infrastructure
Land conservation and restoration
Water access sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
