We are working with Natuurpunt and a long list of local stakeholders to restore wetlands in Sint-Onolfspolder Nature Reserve in Belgium. The project area is a historic polder with high potential for wetland restoration and benefits, including water retention, flood risk reduction, and drought resilience. This project is facilitating the purchase of more land to scale up conservation, clearing ditches to increase water storage, and installing infrastructure such as bridges for both management and public use.

Grand Rieu Pond Habitat Restoration
Natagora is working to restore the Grand Rieu meadow reserve, a 24-hectare wetland site near Mons, Belgium, to enhance biodiversity and provide habitats for various bird species like the Eurasian spoonbill and the bluethroat. The reserve, which includes a large pond and a mix of reedbeds and surrounding wetland areas, is being integrated into the larger Walloon Zwin wetland reserve. Future restoration efforts will focus on cleaning up the polluted pond, enhancing reedbed habitats, and improving visitor access with walking paths, interpretive signage, and observatories for wildlife observation. This project aims to connect the reserve with other nearby wetlands, boosting regional biodiversity and ecological health.
