Waste Management Honored with Water Stewardship Influencer Award

For five years, Waste Management (WM) has helped move the needle on corporate environmental water stewardship in Arizona. Leveraging the power and influence of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, they have raised awareness and dedicated resources to conserving water, reusing grey water, and restoring freshwater to benefit the environment in a state and at a time when it could not be more important.

WM has engaged five unique business partners to match their financial contributions to water restoration projects over the years. These efforts have supported ranchers, farmers, and communities across the Verde River Valley—helping them modernize irrigation systems to enhance stream flows and more reliably deliver water to farms.

To date, WM and partners have helped to restore over 270,000,000 gallons of freshwater to Arizona rivers and have engaged tens of thousands of golf fans with messaging on how they can conserve water in their daily lives.

For these reasons and more, we were thrilled to honor Waste Management with the first Water Stewardship Influencer Award presented by the Green Sports Alliance & Bonneville Environmental Foundation at the ASU Sports & Sustainability Symposium at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe on January 17th.
