Sint-Onolfspolder Wetland Restoration and Enhancement
The Sint-Onolfspolder is primarily a wet meadow area within the City of Dendermonde, that is home to a variety of avian species including sea eagles, teals, shelducks, grebes, wigeons, goldeneyes and nuns. The project is managed by Natuurpunt, the largest Belgian nature conservation organization, and alongside municipal partners will ensure water resources will flow to 110 hectares of wetland habitat across the area.
This landmark project will be incorporated into the Scheldevallei National Park, providing long-term security for wetland conservation that will benefit both wildlife and recreational access to nature.
