Middleton Wetland Restoration

The Annapolis River watershed is the third largest watershed in the province of Nova Scotia, covering an area of 2,000 square kilometers. It spans from Caribou Bog near Berwick to Digby.  The Clean Annapolis River Project (CARP) is a community-based non-governmental organization based in Annapolis Royal Nova, Scotia. The group seeks to identify and establish priorities and projects to enhance the ecological integrity of the Annapolis River watershed. CARP and their partners will implement the Middleton Wetland Restoration project to benefit the Annapolis River. Wetland restoration will help to restore the natural processes that capture and route water in a way that improves water quality, replenishes groundwater, and enhances habitat that supports fish and wildlife. In addition to the environmental benefits, a walking trail will be built to increase community access.
