Verde River – Babe’s Round Up Irrigation Modernization

Babe’s Round Up, a family owned and operated restaurant and catering since 1982, utilizes event space located on a property in the Verde Valley, which is nestled between the confluence of the Verde River, Beaver Creek, and the confluence of the Verde River with Oak Creek. The restaurant has been bringing barbeque favorites to private parties and business events in Northern Arizona and the entire Southwest for over 34 years! Babe’s is an iconic business in Camp Verde and continues to seek opportunities to grow its impact.

In partnership with The Nature Conservancy, the landowner seeks to modernize the irrigation system and convert the flood irrigation on the restaurant’s picturesque event grounds to a sprinkler system. As a result, the water will be distributed more efficiently across the fields, which will reduce overall water demand on the property.

In addition to the water savings attributed to the project, this project provides an excellent example in the community as to how water savings projects can be implemented on a small scale. This is a high profile project located along a high visibility road through the town of Camp Verde.
